I'm currently making myself a home-brewed attention database. This is going to be a series of hacks that I can apply to my own NewsRiver install which will allow me to track which blogs I click through to the most and record all that information in to a database.
It's not quite as well-featured as attention.xml, but what it will do is let me figure out what I'm reading the most, what I should pay attention to and how to make myself a better blog reader.
I'm not so bothered about getting the reports back to myself, but to at least bottle the data up now so I can do stuff with it later.
Eventually, I'm going to use this in order to pull out my top 10 sources (ch-check!) and aggregate them to places like my Google homepage and my mobile phone.
I've also got another killer idea that's just sitting inside my head. I really need about three weeks off to build all the ideas that are swimming through my head. And I also need one of the enormous whiteboards they have at Google in order to plan all my ideas. Or perhaps a blackboard - they definitely have more physics cred than whiteboards, imho.
