Den of the Biting Beaver has a horrific story of a woman trying to get emergency contraception: "it seems that there is no moral to the story other than morality clauses fucking suck. I'm off to smoke a carton of cigarettes and suck down more butter rum so stick that in your morality pipe and smoke it you dirty bastards". 2006-09-22T17:08:20ZUntitled entry permalink

Valleywag: "MySpace users need more explanatory labels than an Alzheimer's patient learning Japanese". 2006-09-22T17:04:01ZUntitled entry permalink

Steve Rubel reports that Edelman now has an OPML file (Grazr) for it's employees output - though the RSS feed for 'News Trough' doesn't seem to be working. 2006-09-22T10:37:43ZUntitled entry permalink

USB batteries. They look cool, but I can't justify spending £13 on AA batteries since the only device I use that takes batteries takes AAA. (Via PopGadget) 2006-09-22T10:35:25ZUntitled entry permalink

The Daily Mail is frothing at the mouth. No change there then. Why exactly would raising the driving age for legal drivers prevent someone from joyriding without a licence, exactly? A quick lesson in Daily Mail logic: it is perfectly acceptable to universalise from one individual case to the law for everyone. 2006-09-22T10:18:47ZUntitled entry permalink

Anti-drug ads: hypocritical, expensive, retarded and almost as totally ineffective as the War on Drugs that spawned these public information trainwrecks. So, sit back and enjoy five of the worst anti-drug public service adverts. I particularly like the one with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. 2006-09-22T09:51:48ZUntitled entry permalink

Don't rub it in, Doc. I want to be there, man. But I'm stuck in poxy Britain. Smile and a wink 2006-09-22T09:24:26ZUntitled entry permalink

Three great Andrew Sullivan bits 2006-09-22T09:30:48ZTitled entry permalink

First the sensible: "The overt partisan politicization of faith is obnoxious whatever side it's coming from, left or right. It's one thing to bring moral witness to the public square, rooted in faith. It's another thing to align - or detach - God with one party or one candidate."

Then the silly:"I would also think that this president especially needs our prayers. These are terribly trying times; and given his very limited abilities, he needs all the prayers we can send his way."

And finally, an amazing story coming from former Archbishop of Cantebury, Lord George Carey: "The fundamental problem for the West is not Islamic fundamentalism. It is Islam".

I am a , an , like to code in and noodle about with and the . I also have a BA in philosophy from London, and am studying for an MA. My philosophical interests are in Victorian-era German philosophy, Kierkegaard, Robert Nozick, hermeneutics and current approaches to the demarcation problem in the philosophy of science. Musically, I like jazz fusion, soul and P-Funk. My musical nirvana would be a mixture of Beethoven, Miles Davis and George Clinton topped with a side-serving of Erykah, Jill and Angie.

I also write for the Citizendium, an online encyclopedia project. If you know about stuff, you should join in.
