Andy Carvin has a post about racism and being black in Second Life. The person next to me is discussing it right now. Liveblog! 2006-09-12T16:53:52ZUntitled entry permalink

I'm now at Berkman listening to Charles and Rebecca Nesson talk about Second Life and how they want to use it. They are going to get students to interview famous Second Lifers - perhaps they could talk to Koz Farina or Marsellus Wallace. Have a look at some Second Life blogs. I've just subscribed to Second Cast. 2006-09-12T16:30:51ZUntitled entry permalink

I'm really not sure what I think about this story from the University of Glamorgan. I think there can be extremely good reasons not to attend lectures, and that, while checking up on student attendance is not a "totalitarian" measure, it is certainly a step towards auniversity culture predicated on therapy.

Dropping out from my first college was one of the best things I've done, and my life has been immeasurably better since dropping out. I really would not have liked to have been coaxed out of leaving.

If I were still there, I would have definitely not have been in such a good state as I am now.

I am a , an , like to code in and noodle about with and the . I also have a BA in philosophy from London, and am in preparation for an MA. My philosophical interests are in Victorian-era German philosophy, Kierkegaard, Robert Nozick, hermeneutics and current approaches to the demarcation problem in the philosophy of science. Musically, I like jazz fusion, soul and P-Funk. My musical nirvana would be a mixture of Beethoven, Miles Davis and George Clinton topped with a side-serving of Erykah, Jill and Angie.
