Religion Comparison Chart. I wouldn't say that Marx, Freud and Feuerbach are strictly the most influential of works for atheists though. They all follow a certain critical perspective and what they have to say is interesting, but for many, the classic atheological arguments seem more foundational than the "hermeneutics of suspicion" of these three writers. Plus if you define atheism as starting with Marx and Feuerbach, you give too much credit to the theory proposed by various religious people that atheism is essentially a non-intellectual position, that it's derived from Marxist philosophy. I reject that idea. For me, Hume, Darwin, Nietzsche, Russell and various others make atheism a logical continuation of deism rather than some revolutionary Marxist pose. The mailing list and message board world have figured out a lot of things which us bloggers are still trying to work out.
That's because we're playing the "reinvent the wheel" game. Blog comments are nothing new. They are just like badly designed message boards.
I am a vegetarian, an atheist, like to code in Python and noodle about with microformats and the Semantic Web. I also have a BA in philosophy from London, and am in preparation for an MA. My philosophical interests are in Victorian-era German philosophy, Kierkegaard, Robert Nozick, hermeneutics and current approaches to the demarcation problem in the philosophy of science. Musically, I like jazz fusion, soul and P-Funk. My musical nirvana would be a mixture of Beethoven, Miles Davis and George Clinton topped with a side-serving of Erykah, Jill and Angie.
