Slow off the ball. Kosso has just launched BlogHud, a Second Life blogging system. Very neat. 2006-07-11T22:11:34ZUntitled entry permalink

Just got my timetable for next term. Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Only one ten o'clock start (which means about a 7am start if you're a commuter like me). Not great, but not bad. What am I reading? Schelling, Hegel, Fichte, Schopenhaeur, Nietzsche and loads more. 2006-07-11T20:50:19ZUntitled entry permalink

Religion Comparison Chart. I wouldn't say that Marx, Freud and Feuerbach are strictly the most influential of works for atheists though. They all follow a certain critical perspective and what they have to say is interesting, but for many, the classic atheological arguments seem more foundational than the "hermeneutics of suspicion" of these three writers. Plus if you define atheism as starting with Marx and Feuerbach, you give too much credit to the theory proposed by various religious people that atheism is essentially a non-intellectual position, that it's derived from Marxist philosophy. I reject that idea. For me, Hume, Darwin, Nietzsche, Russell and various others make atheism a logical continuation of deism rather than some revolutionary Marxist pose. I've got no argument about Voltaire though... Smile and a wink 2006-07-11T16:23:55ZUntitled entry permalink

Somebody came to my site today looking for information about Blood. Unfortunately, I've only got stuff about Rebecca Blood. If you're looking for the red stuff that keeps us alive, Wikipedia is the answer. 2006-07-11T13:55:56ZUntitled entry permalink

Amyloo brings up a good point about comments: "The message board and mailing list world figured that one out a while ago. You post a set of discussion rules, and include a rule about not getting personal."

The mailing list and message board world have figured out a lot of things which us bloggers are still trying to work out.

That's because we're playing the "reinvent the wheel" game. Blog comments are nothing new. They are just like badly designed message boards.
