Om Malik is coming to London on Saturday. He should come along to the @Media Social. 2006-06-11T09:27:00ZUntitled entry permalink

Amyloo - don't worry, my plans are for OPML to have it as an option. Until there is a simple implementation of the Community Server available for a wider range of platforms, Editor adoption will be stunted by the thought that "Dave owns your data", which is patently untrue (it sits on your hard drive in an open XML format) - this provides a neat get-out clause until the Community Server is available on a more wide-ranging basis. There is, of course, a user education task to be done about persuading people that a Community Server might be a better option for them. 2006-06-11T08:01:44ZUntitled entry permalink

IndieKarma 2006-06-11T09:34:42ZPermalink

I just read about IndieKarma and installed it on my site. It's very cool. If you enjoy this site, please consider signing up. It's a no-obligation scheme. If you sign up, you get a dollar added to your account for free, then when you visit sites like mine (or Les'), it automatically gives $0.01 to that person. It's a micropayments scheme to support bloggers.

Although I'm no fan of the design of the bar which appears on the site, the owners of the service have stated that they will make it less obtrusive and more customisable soon. As a distinctly "un-2.0" blog in design, I have some better ideas on how this could work.

It would also be useful if the user could customise how much they pay and how often. Currently, you pay once an hour, but it would be useful if you could switch it for different sites. The user should be in charge of how much they are making in micropayment.

There's more discussion over at Mashable, Fleen, Nate Ritter, Ming the Mechanic and revjim (all of whom are IndieKarma users).
