Dave has pointed out that Richard Dawkins' "The Root of All Evil?" programme was cleared by Ofcom. Hooray! He points to MediaWatchWatch, which seems to have dropped out of my aggregator. 2006-06-05T18:15:43ZUntitled entry permalink

I admit, I haven't tried it out, but OmniDazzle seems something of a disappointment compared to, well, the outliner they've built and the web browser and so on. 2006-06-05T12:24:59ZUntitled entry permalink

Lifehacker is reporting that Google Calendar's SMS feature has now launched. Now, why can't we get it in Britain? 2006-06-05T12:23:24ZUntitled entry permalink

Dan wants you to know about OPML. Smile and a wink He's also got a cool movie showing how one can use the OPML editor as a creative writing tool. 2006-06-05T12:20:20ZUntitled entry permalink

Gmail Encrypt is a good start, but I want client-side PGP/GPG in Gmail. Here's what happens - you go to the website, you click "install", it drops a new extension in to Firefox and then when you start up, it prompts you to either select or create a PGP/GPG key, and it then just works. If someone could do that, and roll it out to the vast majority of Gmail users, it would (a) prove that Google aren't as evil as they always tend to seem and (b) really fuck up the government's full-cocked nastiness. Come on Google, this would be very easy what with all your hundreds of engineers and geeks. 2006-06-05T09:20:41ZUntitled entry permalink

Rachel is getting quite annoyed with the BBC online World Cup coverage, since it doesn't work outside the UK, even though she's a licence payer. 2006-06-05T09:13:45ZUntitled entry permalink

Somebody on this train has a mobile phone or Blackberry (or something equivalent) going absolutely apeshit. Every minute I'm getting huge amounts of interference in my headphones, and it pisses me right off. There's no way of telling whose it is, either! 2006-06-05T09:10:11ZUntitled entry permalink

James Corbett: "...it drives me nuts when I can't easily find the price plans corresponding to a trial registration." Tell me about it. Lack of any actual prices is a big ol' sin online, if you ask me. 2006-06-05T09:01:33ZUntitled entry permalink

James Archer of Forty Media has a list of the top ten stock photography clichés. "Synergy". Nice. 2006-06-05T08:57:44ZUntitled entry permalink

Peter Cook on Grazr: "Seems to me it's something only a geek could love. I want to share my outlines with non-geeks." I disagree. Grazr is intuitive, in my mind, for non-geeks since it is very similar to the iPod interface, which is being used by so many non-geeks, it makes you tremble. Software habits breeds more software habits, and it'll be interesting to see what the iPod does next. 2006-06-05T08:49:01ZUntitled entry permalink

Apple Leaves India 2006-06-05T08:42:06ZTitled entry permalink

Apparently, Apple are dropping their Indian support centre. Of course, what's going to happen is that a load of people are going to shout "WTF? Racism!" and those of us who've actually had to deal with the outsourced tech support will breath a sigh of relief. The last time I was transferred to AppleCare India, they were totally useless.

Not language wise - I can understand Indian accents, and their English was more than acceptable.

It's just they didn't know anything about the product. The tech support sucked, which is quite different from my experience with the old UK tech support facility in Cork, who were always switched on to what's going on with the technology.

I just bought one of Apple's Bluetooth keyboards to use with my MBP. Really nice bit of kit, especially considering the price - which is about half what you pay for an equivalent Microsoft keyboard. I need to figure out why my (Macally) Bluetooth mouse doesn't charge up very well, but otherwise I'm all Bluetoothed up. Is it possible to use my Apple keyboard on Windows and/or Linux?

My philosophical interests are in Victorian-era German philosophy, Kierkegaard, Robert Nozick, hermeneutics and current approaches to the demarcation problem in the philosophy of science.
