James has started out on my idea. Cool. Once I've knocked these essays on the head, I'm going to put something together. 2006-05-11T18:09:39ZUntitled entry permalink

The ".xxx" debacle could finally be at a close, the BBC are reporting. Oh, thank Buddha for that. The .xxx domain was one of the worst ideas to have hit the 'net, and it's taken nearly a decade to finally get rid of it. It would have been extremely "web-centric" - there are more than enough differing protocols and uses for the net, so to shoehorn the web in to the porn industry blueprint would be very limiting, and also very stupid. We need to have a clear wall between content and domains - especially as the governments around the world have a certain interest in domains (remember the goatse.cx debaclé). 2006-05-11T08:59:05ZUntitled entry permalink

Some Valleywag nonsense though: "the average blogger doesn't give a damn about OPML". Guess we're not the average. 2006-05-11T08:30:26ZUntitled entry permalink

Valleywag is pretty insightful about the MySpace IM system: "MySpace will last about four months before all the kiddies go right back to AIM, where their friends are. In the meantime, the media will find one case of a child being sexually solicited through the new tool, and a watchdog group will try to push legislation, a boycott, or a federally funded program." 2006-05-11T08:19:46ZUntitled entry permalink

Want some encouragement? Read this. Either way this should make you happy - either you'll be happy that there are other people enjoying high culture like you do, or you'll be happy that other people are enjoying high culture so you don't have to. 2006-05-11T08:01:12ZUntitled entry permalink

I am a , an , like to code in and noodle about with and the . I also have a BA in philosophy from London, and am in preparation for an MA. My philosophical interests are in Victorian-era German philosophy, Kierkegaard, Robert Nozick, hermeneutics and current approaches to the demarcation problem in the philosophy of science. Musically, I like jazz fusion, soul and P-Funk. My musical nirvana would be a mixture of Beethoven, Miles Davis and George Clinton topped with a side-serving of Erykah, Jill and Angie.
