Six Apart are setting up a TrackBack Working Group. Having developed software that uses TrackBack, I will probably join. 2006-02-22T20:17:59ZUntitled entry permalink

I have just republished an article I wrote back in 2004 for the purpose of academic referencing (basically, so when I write another essay, I can refer back to it). You may enjoy it - it's called Be Hapy Naked: an analysis of a 2004 Evian bottled water advertisment campaign. I've brushed it up and made it look a bit nicer. I will also put up the scan of the accompanying image shortly. 2006-02-22T20:05:50ZUntitled entry permalink

P. Z. Myers is discussing the Salem hypothesis. If you like that, you may just love the talk.orgins jargon file by Wesley Elsberry (despite it being very old and missing some important and hilarious things, notably: Kent Hovind, "a treeful of howler monkeys" and the bucketful of hilarity that is DaveScot). Meanwhile, you can amuse yourself with a T.O game. 2006-02-22T18:11:17ZUntitled entry permalink

1up.com has Child's Play II - where they get a bunch of 10-13 year old kids to review classic games. Including Grand Theft Auto (the original), which those little bastards savaged! I love that game! Smile and a wink 2006-02-22T18:05:40ZUntitled entry permalink

I'm not a huge fan of regulating advertising, but sometimes it's just about deserved. Especially when it's game makers mixing CG and gameplay images. 2006-02-22T17:58:30ZUntitled entry permalink

It's cool that Apsyr are publishing C&C Generals: Deluxe Edition, but why no Universal binary? 2006-02-22T17:55:19ZUntitled entry permalink

All very sci-fi, but didn't they see 2001? 2006-02-22T17:53:42ZUntitled entry permalink

Marketing World are reporting that "A third of UK publishers have already launched podcasting surveys, according to new research, while half of those surveyed plan to do so in the next 12 months". Great, with one proviso: why have so few UK publishers produced RSS feeds? Why have so few UK publishers produced websites that don't suck? Why have so few UK publishers produced non-permalinkable articles by design? Why have some UK publishers put ineffective paywalls between readers and content? Don't they get it? 2006-02-22T17:44:47ZUntitled entry permalink

I am a , an , like to code in and noodle about with and the . I also have a BA in philosophy from London, and am studying for an MA. My philosophical interests are in Victorian-era German philosophy, Kierkegaard, Robert Nozick, hermeneutics and current approaches to the demarcation problem in the philosophy of science. Musically, I like jazz fusion, soul and P-Funk. My musical nirvana would be a mixture of Beethoven, Miles Davis and George Clinton topped with a side-serving of Erykah, Jill and Angie.

I also write for the Citizendium, an online encyclopedia project. If you know about stuff, you should join in.
