So, I'm guessing I'll get my MacBook in 23 days time. Apple have really fluffed this up. 2006-02-15T16:22:27ZUntitled entry permalink

Apple Update 2006-02-15T08:16:42ZTitled entry permalink

I phoned Apple this morning, about ten minutes ago. The woman wasn't particularly helpful, but here's the full deal as far as I know it.

I ordered a 1.83 on Jan 21. They said it would ship on Feb 15.

Yesterday, they announced the upgrade to American customers. They eventually updated the site.

They sent an email saying that they'd upgrade everybody.

Last night, my order status was saying I'd be getting a 1.83, shipped on 28 Feb to arrive for Mar 10. (The email contradicts what Apple's PR says). (Screenshot)

I phoned this morning, and they said that I'd get a 2.0 but couldn't say on shiping, but that it would ship according to the email, but might arrive early.

I just checked in to Order Status online, and it's saying 2.0 shipping on March the 15th for March 27. (Screenshot)

So, when's my Mac going to arrive? Apple haven't been too lucid on that. It's like a big game to them. Sorry, but it's a game that's costing me around £2,000, and the delivery means I have to ensure someone is at home to get it.

If Apple can't ship, they should own up. The "Valentine's gift" is great, but relationships are built on honesty, y'know.

Update: I just called Apple again. The Order Status showing March 15-27 is wrong, and they will be shipping in February. They apologised for all the confusion and delays. Again, all bets are off until Apple send out tracking numbers which could be next week or it could be next year. The man at the top, Steve Jobs, said that it'll be "February". Take that as you will.
