MetaFilter are discussing Million Dollar Homepage. The people who've advertised on that site must be dumb as fuck. "Yeah, let's put our adverts on a page that people will go to as a human interest story, once. You know, instead of spending it on Google ads and other things which actually work..." 2006-01-19T13:48:49ZUntitled entry permalink

Ophelia Benson is correct on Hairy Scary's new papal encyclical. (Hey, mummy, they've made a ghost in to the Pope!) 2006-01-19T13:40:11ZUntitled entry permalink

Jonathan Freedland has an excellent defence of free speech against the offensiveness police. 2006-01-19T02:55:36ZUntitled entry permalink

Ed Brayton is reporting that Mark Perakh's lost his house. Thankfully he's safe. Let's hope Mark can get himself back together. This really shows up the visciousness of some of his critics though. 2006-01-19T02:41:44ZUntitled entry permalink

I don't do ancestor worship, but it certainly focuses the mind. The Big Brother house is "traumatic", claim two of it's residents. I'll give you traumatic: my paternal grandmother worked on an ambulance during the Blitz, putting her life and health on the line every single night. My maternal grandfather designed bridges for the army (and actually met Hitler). Trauma is a word you use when all the houses on your street get blown to bits by a V2 rocket. Trauma is a word you use when your son gets summarily executed by policemen in your back yard. Trauma is not the word you use for the experience of doing silly things on national television in order to boost your sagging showbiz career. 2006-01-19T02:05:44ZUntitled entry permalink

Anne Zelenka calls me 'linkalicious' on the day I'm not blogging. Smile and a wink Still, here's my two cents: if you're not getting something from a class, leave. I was getting nothing from my university "experience" in 2003-04. I left. Best decision I ever made. 2006-01-19T01:15:57ZUntitled entry permalink

I am a , an , like to code in and noodle about with and the . I also have a BA in philosophy from London, and am studying for an MA. My philosophical interests are in Victorian-era German philosophy, Kierkegaard, Robert Nozick, hermeneutics and current approaches to the demarcation problem in the philosophy of science. Musically, I like jazz fusion, soul and P-Funk. My musical nirvana would be a mixture of Beethoven, Miles Davis and George Clinton topped with a side-serving of Erykah, Jill and Angie.

I also write for the Citizendium, an online encyclopedia project. If you know about stuff, you should join in.
