Hmm. I'm really rather happy today. And I've achieved quite a lot. Correlation? 2005-12-25T23:51:49Z
RSSor is a good idea, but not well-implemented. It doesn't do 'river of news'. This is a downer. I have yet to find a web-based aggregator that doesn't suck and isn't Bloglines (and I'm not wonderfully fond of Bloglines!). Within the del.icio.us design, the settings link doesn't work. To be honest, I can't see the point of this. There's no determination of whether or not you've read something or not. There's no way of importing your feeds from an OPML file. It seems lightweight, and probably wouldn't be able to cope with my 300 feeds. It would be better if the links to del.icio.us, Furl etc. were modules (in fact some uniform, simple standard where your posting rights are centrally located, so that you simply punch in your email address and it automatically sets up all your posting abilities on another site would be useful) rather than links to services I don't use. All in all, a disappointment. 2005-12-25T22:18:01Z
An old entry by Dave on OPML and directories. I'm going to build it. 2005-12-25T22:13:56Z
I guess I'm the only OPMLer posting on Christmas. 2005-12-25T17:12:52Z
I'm now using Technorati, tagging and RSS to monitor bug reports. Why? It's more portable than email, and I can do things like get it forwarded to my mobile phone. 2005-12-25T17:05:16Z
I can now post to my WordPress blog via email, thus via my mobile phone. Very neat. 2005-12-25T16:47:12Z
Damn, the television at Christmas is shittier than normal. 2005-12-25T14:29:03Z
Christmas dinner is just being served in the home of this particular blogger. 2005-12-25T12:50:02Z
I've been thinking further about the OPML Web Directory. One thing that could be possible would be some way of rating the different nodes and commenting. Perhaps some kind of index of directories which people could rate. Or perhaps, with Wikipedia as our example, some kind of autocracy would be better. Who knows? 2005-12-25T12:47:04Z
I just remembered: Dave's already got an "OPML Directory". I think that my project is going to need a different name - perhaps, the OPML Community Directory or the OPML Web Directory. Again, suggestions on a postcard please. 2005-12-25T11:26:57Z
For any of you who have got the OPML Editor, and that should be most of the readers of this (curious outsiders can grab themselves a copy) can have a little look and see how well the OPML Directory is coming on by loading this root file in to your outliners. Explore. There's lots in there, including a particularly good OPML file on Ireland. 2005-12-25T11:20:57Z
Christmas with family. Oh joy after joy! 2005-12-25T11:18:35Z
I'm looking for OPML-ers who are interested in helping edit a huge directory. I've already started building it, and I want node writers. Here are my requirements: an OPML account, reasonable knowledge of directory structures and how to organise information, desire to licence material under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence, knowledge of subject. I'm currently looking for people who wish to edit the local bits of the directory especially people who could document: Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, Japan and China. Citizenship helps. If you are interested, drop me an email. 2005-12-25T10:58:33Z
Merry Christmas everybody. It's a shame that not everybody's enjoying it. 2005-12-25T10:57:32Z

I am a vegetarian, an atheist, like to code in Ruby and Scala (and Java, but let’s not talk about that), and noodle about with microformats and the Semantic Web.
I have an MA in philosophy from Heythrop College, University of London. My philosophical interests are in analytic metaphysics, ontology, modality, the work of Armstrong, Lewis, Kripke, Russell and Plato. I have a strange, unfulfilled interest in Gadamer’s hermeneutics. I’ve been influenced by Gadamer, by Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Rawls and Nozick.
Musically, I like jazz fusion, soul and P-Funk. My musical nirvana would be a mixture of Beethoven, Miles Davis and George Clinton topped with a side-serving of Erykah, Jill and Angie.
I also write for the Citizendium, an online encyclopedia project. If you know about stuff, you should join in. I occasionally produce audio recordings for The Pod Delusion.
